Second Semester Junior

I wish there was a way to imply things without directly typing it. In other words, typed tone of voice... or a new type of end punctuation. You see, a lot of the things I tend to say don't exist in the natural world of English grammar, also, it has been said that I have great facial expressions. So it could be beneficial to have an emoticon that was called "The Ruth Face".

Anyhow, my classmates and I have just completed our fourth to last round of midterms/finals and I am sensing an aura of not caring or what I like to call "The Second Semester Junior", a serious but not fatal (like Second Semester Senior Syndrome (SSSS), in which seniors in their last semester of high school tend to hibernate from midterms on until end-of-year finals or graduation) condition in which juniors in high school feel as if they have not a care in the world when in reality, this is probably the most meaningful semester of their high school career. SATs, ACTs, APs, college lists starting to be composed, so much to do, so many people to see, and so many ways to procrastinate!!

As this is already a random enough post, here is my bucket list, written from 1-2 PM on this fine winter's day.
1. See the aurora borealis.
2. Backpack through Europe.
3. Make it through college to become a social worker so I can help people.
4. Run a marathon (or two) and eventually make it to Boston.
5. Travel to Europe (see #2) - but this time see Baker Street (if it actually exists) and Diagon Alley (again, if it really exists).
6. Travel to Africa and make a difference.
7. Learn how to play the piano or guitar.
8. Have a successful garden for at least one summer (I don't exactly have the greenest of thumbs).
9. See the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
10. Go watch the Olympics. Preferably the 5000m or 10000m, but anything save water polo and weightlifting would be amazing.

Must be accomplished by the end of this summer:
11. Licensure. As in obtaining a driver's license.

I'm still young, and my aspirations may change, but hopefully not who I am.

If anyone is reading this and has a brilliant idea for an actual theme or direction for this blog, comment, email, or get a hold of me in another way and let me know!!

Love always,
Ruth

Well, I don't know why I'm doing this the night before my last midterm..

Here I am again, in the blogosphere, the night before my anatomy and physiology midterm, doing my best to procrastinate and/or get through the week. Since I started my last blog (that ended prematurely) before I moved across the country (yes, that happened), I should catch you up on a few things without putting myself at risk for major stalkage. And yes, stalkage is my own word I made up.

1. I moved to the opposite coast of the West.
2. Up North.
3. It snows a lot here and I hadn't dealt with snow for 2 years when we got our first snow here.
4. Umm I finally broke 6 in the mile.
5. I have deemed myself an amateur milesplit and runnerspace stalker, as if athletic.net wasn't enough to occupy my time.
6. I'm happy, but then again, I'm always happy, so it's not very new.
7. Found a new church! This is good, I love Jesus and people, so naturally church is a good place to be.
8. Started a new school, taking AP classes for the first time ever and doing well in general in my academic pursuits.
9. I am almost to #10 of this list and could keep going for a while so I'll just stop now.
10. Oh, I also made some great new friends here in my new town. The XC team is excellent (people and runner-wise) and people are just awesome. The world is awesome.

Phew, good to get that off my chest! I've missed putting my life out on a blog for the world to see.

I currently do not have a direction for this blog, I have no idea how it will look in a month or two, and I may not even have the time to continue it, so time will tell.

In the meantime, love your family, love yourself (but don't be egotistical), eat when you're hungry, drink when you're thirsty, and enjoy the little things.

Any suggestions for this blog are welcome and desperately needed.

Over and out,
Ruth
